Planning and Zoning is set-up in a team framework of two teams and an administrative staff.  Each team is responsible for specific objectives with a common goal of providing excellent service to all of our customers.

PLANNING & ZONING  MANAGER


The Planning & Zoning Manager provides support to the department Director and coordinates the departments workflow.     



SPECIAL PROJECTS AND ANNEXATION
The Special Projects Coordinator oversees special projects and all annexations for the Town of Oro Valley


 

THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
Administrative Staff responsibilities include: clerical duties, maintaining Planning & Zoning Website, records management, and providing logistical support for the division.



THE PLANNING TEAM  
Coordinates the review of projects with various Town Departments, Divisions and external review agencies such as Pima County Wastewater, Golder Ranch Fire District, and Amphitheater Public Schools.  Planning also prepares amendments to the Oro Valley Zoning Code as directed by the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Town Council.  The Planning team projects and estimates the Town's population.  The purpose of these tasks is to formulate recommendations for the aesthetic, organized growth and development of the Town.


 


THE ENFORCEMENT TEAM
Implements the development approval actions of the Town Council and the Development Review Board, and they enforce the provisions of the Oro Valley Zoning Code Revised.  This team issues all zoning permits, except grading permits; reviews site plans for all buildings, pools, walls, etc.; and monitors compliance with Town plant salvage, landscape, sign and development standards.  They also collect and release assurances that are posted to ensure that development and landscaping are completed in a timely manner per approved plans.  The Senior Zoning Inspector provides technical assistance to the Board of Adjustment.  The Development Coordinator coordinates and maintains project files for all development review projects to help ensure that these projects stay on track.
